Today, a group of sixteen ramblers assembled outside the Hartington Cheese Shop. After a very short speech, we set off in sunshine to walk through Biggin, Wolfscote and Beresford Dales before returning to Hartington for well-deserved refreshment.
Although officially described as leisurely, after the ascent leading out from Hartington I would suggest an upgrade to moderate would have been more accurate. The weather was changeable throughout the walk with our coffee by the River Dove in sunshine, heavy rain in Wolfscote, more sunshine and then torrential rain and hail greeting us back in Hartington! Despite the vagaries of the weather the walk was very enjoyable with perhaps the most surprising thing for me and anyone who knows me being that we stayed on course all the way.
