Twenty three walkers joined Stephen and I for today's half day walk. There were blue skies all the way as we strolled along country lanes and the Shropshire Union Canal tow path. With no stiles or livestock to concern us, we enjoyed lots of lovely conversation that continued afterwards at the Red Lion PH in Market Drayton.

Mushrooms, Muck and Misadventure
From Butterton we headed west, dropping briefly into the Hamps Valley before climbing towards Upper Elkstone, then descending to Warslow and the Manifold Valley. From there came a yomp up and over Ecton Hill before returning via Grindon.

Today, twenty two ramblers met at the small car park in Forsbrook with the need for street parking much reduced by car sharing. There was a warm and blustery wind as we made our way from the urban start to join field paths en route to Saverley Green and Cresswell before returning to our cars. After the walk, many of us visited the Roebuck PH where we benefitted from the wide selection of drinks on offer.

Stephen and I would like to thank the thirteen ramblers, including those from other groups, who joined us today for an eight mile walk from Biddulph Country Park. We were grateful for the mild weather as we walked along the Biddulph Valley Way and climbed to reach the Mow Cop folly. We then followed the Gritstone Trail enjoying extensive views over the Cheshire plain with the Jodrell Bank telescope clearly visible. After we had returned to the start, seven of the party then enjoyed post-walk refreshments and lively banter in the Talbot PH.
