Fifteen walkers started from the car park having first negotiated the dreaded card payment only ticket machine. We felt proud of ourselves for having managed to get parking permits as we set off along a track towards Hazelton Clump and were rewarded with fine views towards Thorpe Cloud and Bunster Hill. Having stopped for a break on a bridge over the River Manifold, we made our way to Ilam Hall for a comfort stop and ice cream. Finally we followed the River Manifold to its junction with the River Dove near to Coldwell Bridge and then took a steep winding path to Coldwell Farm and back to the cars.
