Description

Saturday 3rd

Large paying carpark, meet towards the top end nearest the beach.  We will walk along the river Otter and cross over back to the beautiful coast-path (some slopes but not too steep) and on to Ladram Bay for lunch, hopefully on the beach. Drinks can be purchased here plus toilets are available. We then turn inland through the holiday park and visit Otterton Mill, an excellent cafe, shop plus toilets - before walking back via the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve designated an SSSI which supports high numbers of breeding and overwintering bird species. This is a lovely varied coastal and river walk with possibly a chance to dip in the sea at Ladram Bay or Budleigh Salterton at the end of the walk so bring your swimmers !!!

Sunday 4th

We will start walking at 10.00am from the front of the cafe called The Kitchen.  We walk through the fields past the donkeys to Salcombe Regis then on to the coast path towards Weston Mouth where we will have lunch (maybe a dip) on the beach.  The walk takes us uphill back to the Donkey Sanctuary where you might want to see more of the donkeys and learn about the charity work they do.

Both walks involve coastpath walking so may have to be amended if the weather is bad (thinking of Porlock last year!!) so keep an eye on your inbox.  I will resend this same email the Monday before we go. Packed lunch required each day.

Look forward to walking with you all in this beautiful part of East Devon.  The walks are not too long or strenuous to give people time to explore Sidmouth before enjoying an evening meal. There are several good pubs and restaurants in Sidmouth to choose from - Google for info and you might want to visit Jacob’s Ladder Beach with its striking red sandstone cliffs - just a pleasant walk along the promenade.

Friday 2nd - meet and greet at The Anchor Inn Sidmouth

https://share.google/QPjIQpcRWGg9Ux1w0 in the upstairs function room 6.00pm for any last minute questions or changes.  If you wish to eat there Friday evening you must ring, say you are part of the walking group and order your food as soon as you can and we can all eat together in that room from 6.30.
