Biddulph Ramblers have kindly invited Stoke/newcastle colleagues to join a really interesting and potentially very important event which could affect any one of us. We are hoping that you will do your very best to support itas you never know what the future will hold.

Buxton Mountain Rescue have very kindly agreed to do a presentation for us about the valuable work they do in The Peak District.

The evening will begin with an excellent illustrated talk about the variety of rescues they undertake in the Peak District as well as valuable advice about what to do if you have an accident or a medical emergency when you are out walking.

The talk will last about 45 minutes with an opportunity to ask questions during the talk and at the end. There will then be a break for refreshments which are kindly being provided by the Methodist Church.

After refreshments have been served those who are interested may wish to stay longer to look at the display of rescue equipment which they regularly use. You can also ask further questions and watch them as they assemble the stretcher which they use to rescue casualties from areas such as Kinder, Thor's Cave and Parkhouse Hill.

The whole evening is free of charge, but as the old saying goes “ There is no such thing a a free lunch” So, we will be asking for donations to cover the cost of the refreshments, make a donation to the church for use of the room and, more importantly, we hope to make a generous donation to Buxton Mountain Rescue which costs £45,000 per annum to operate and is wholely dependent on voluntary contributions. We hope you will be as generous as you can because you never know if you might need to call on their valuable services.

We need to get an idea of numbers who will be attending, this is so the volunteers from the church know how many tea bags, how much milk to bring etc.
