Julie T and Allan W organised an excellent evening of Crown Green Bowls at their local club behind Longton Cricket Ground. We were split into eight teams of two with two pairings playing each other and two games being played at the same time. Hence, there were two sets of matches which each lasted 40 mins. For many of the sixteen Stoke and Newcastle Ramblers members who took part, it was our first venture onto a 'crowned' bowling green, so this all sounded complicated, but there was only one time the teams came close to getting mixed up! Lastly, the two top scoring teams played a final to decide the tounament wineer and we finished the evening with a chip butty each.
