Today, two teams of five  and eight ramblers walked walked footpaths around Audley and Burslem respectively.

At Audley, five bags of rubbish were collected including bottles, cans, dog poo bags, a burst leather football and a car hub cap. Some of the material had clearly been there for a long time.

The Burslem litter pick followed the greenway from Burslem Park to Dimensions. Although someone had cleared the path recently, we still collected 14 bags of litter, along with a legless Barbie doll, rocking horse, canister, tyre, piping and even a paddling pool. Our efforts were appreciated by several cyclists and walkers using the path. 
 

Sadly, both teams collected an abundance of discarded, and sometimes surprising, material, but we were pleased to leave the areas in a better condition to be enjoyed by all. After our successful morning, some of the volunteers celebrated their achievement in the Boat and Horses PH, Newcastle.

30 Mar: Troughstones and Poolfold

Seventeen walkers joined me on a dry but cold and windy day. We followed an old railway track for a short distance before turning off through Marsh Green and then making our way through  Biddulph Country Park. We stopped for a break at Troughstones before walking down a lovely gorge at Poolfold and making our way to Mount Pleasant and Gillows Heath. Finally, we headed back to the cars.

Fourteen ramblers, including Nikki and Dave from the Biddulph group, met at a very busy Hartington to enjoy a walk in the sunshine. The views were excellent all day and eight 8 thirsty ramblers visited the Charles Cotton PH beer garden at the end!

24 Mar: Coldwall Bridge and the Dove

Despite a poor weather forecast, nine walkers attended this walk.  However, although dull, the day provided good walking conditions. We followed the winding River Dove for a good distance before stopping at Mapleton for a break. We then took uphill paths towards Fenny Bentley and back to Thorpe where we stopped at the Old Dog PH for a drink.
Brian and Joy joined us at the pub which was a nice surprise !

16 Mar: Gawton's Well and the Wicken Stones

Twenty eight walkers started our walk from Knypersley reservoir on a warm and sunny day. We made our way to Gorton's Well and stopped for a break at the Wicken Stones with views of Biddulph and Mow Cop. Afterwards we followed the outskirts of Biddulph and made our way back to the cars. At the end of the walk a few thirsty ramblers visited the Top Pub at Brown Edge.
