Despite the forecast of inclemant weather, fifteen members joined this ramble. We walked through the village of Hopton and around Beacon Hill before stopping for a break at Hopton Heath, which was the area where the Parliamentary and Royalists met and fought in 1643. We then followed farm tracks and green pastures back to the cars and a post-walk social gathering at the Dog & Doublet Inn.

Approximately fifteen walkers set off on this six mile Sunday morning walk from Marshes Hill, Brown Edge. We headed along the River Trent, through meadows and woodlands, and alongside a section of Knypersley Reservoir.

This evening cruise from Norbury Wharf included three hours of cruising and a fish and chips supper. It was a convivial occasion in pleasant countryside on a beautiful sunny evening. Folk are are already looking forward to another barge trip next year.

While it was a merky start and rained throughout the ramble, this did not deter the 19 walkers who strolled down towards Biddulph enjoying fine views of Staffordshire. We took a short break in the churchyard of St Thomas Mow Cop, where a klnd lady said we could use the toilets in the hall next door, and then went uphill to the folly where it was blowing a gail. We then passed the Old Man of Mow and followed the Gritstone Way back to the cars. After the walk, most of us went to the Ash Inn for a well earned drink.

Eleven walkers set off on a 7 mile Sunday ramble led by Howard C from Longnor across open fields and via Sheenhill. We enjoyed some lovely Derbyshire views and warm weather. The group enjoyed a short tea break to recharge, and which provided an excellent photo opportunity.
Thank you Howard for yet another stimulating walk.
